Generating extra income
Income – Last fall, I read a book by Art Rainer called “Find more money.” Sometimes, the bottom line for our financial house is we need to bring in more money. There is just no way to lower the expenses anymore.
The author argues that the way we relate to money and possessions can bring us closer to a flourishing life or push us away. How do you define what it means to flourish and be financially successful?
The author argues strongly that generosity with our money is a major way to succeed. However, to reach financial success, he shares it may not be about cutting your expenses and having more to do with finding more income.
We have tried to live off one income source most of my married life, and then any extra income, it helps with the other things. Sometimes that was dentist bills, some times that were different things for Christmas, etc.
Before looking for other income sources, you need to know your goal. This is about mastering money instead of it mastering us.
Next, you need to know yourself. You need to know your passions, what you are good at or can learn, and what people will pay you to do?
Next, get a gig. There are many different things that one could do out there. The key is not to limit yourself. Your mindset will be your most significant battle. Start small, and go from there. Perhaps it will always be just a little extra money, or perhaps in time, it grows into something more.
Two resources
Start small and build from there. So where are you at? Do you need to look at your financial house and see where you can save or spend money differently, or do you need to find another income source?
